Grants & Programs

As the MetroWest region’s only community foundation, we provide financial and educational resources to help make our region a better place for everyone–today and for future generations.

We have granted $31M in funding to MetroWest nonprofits since our inception, and during the past five years have granted $16.5M. Whether it’s programs to support families, youth and human services, hunger relief or arts & culture, we are proud to partner with you.

We offer a range of resources including:

Grant Opportunities

The Community Foundation for MetroWest provides funding to a wide range of nonprofit organizations each year through the Foundation’s grant programs and other grant opportunities.

Youth in Philanthropy

The Community Foundation for MetroWest’s Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) is a 15 or 17-week experiential leadership development program designed to empower and educate local youth to become our community’s next generation of philanthropists. Operating 10 programs across MetroWest September through May, YIP is one of the largest and longest-running youth philanthropy programs in the country.

Since 1997 our YIP program has empowered hundreds of youth to invest over $1.5 million to support youth-serving nonprofits in our region. YIP helps students gain the knowledge, confidence and skills to take on leadership roles and pursue a lifelong passion for giving back.

Center for Philanthropy Education

Our investment in local nonprofits goes beyond grantmaking. We offer educational and networking opportunities at no cost that help nonprofit leaders, board members, staff, and volunteers to think and operate strategically, effectively, and inclusively.

Action Projects

Action Projects address a particular issue in our region and are identified through a combination of data and collaborative conversations with local nonprofit partners, educators, and civic leaders. The Foundation is focusing on two Actions Projects this year, Equity in Education and Workforce Development.
