Nearly $1.3M Allocated in Grants to Address Food Insecurity in MetroWest

Foundation For Metrowest

The Foundation for MetroWest is proud to have recently allocated nearly $1.3M to address food insecurity across 33 cities and towns in our MetroWest region. These grants will help 45 organizations sustain operations, scale, and reinforce new service models—and benefit MetroWest residents who rely on our services.

Between May and July, we granted $248,000 to support organizations with hunger relief initiatives across the MetroWest. Grants were made possible through our MetroWest Hunger Relief Fund and continued use of funding available through our MetroWest Emergency Relief Fund and Feed Framingham COVID-19 Fund.

In addition, we are proud to be partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development to administer funding through the CARES Act Community Development Block Grant Food Security Program in MetroWest. The program began in April 2022 and will help us invest an additional $1,035,000 through March 2023 to support organizations which continue to provide food support to residents negatively impacted by the COVID pandemic.

Our partner organizations are resilient, creative, and adaptive. We are proud to help them continue to address this important and pervasive challenge of food insecurity. The Foundation remains flexible in responding to community needs and will continue to evaluate food insecurity needs to ensure we can have the greatest impact on the community.

We are excited to see how nonprofits utilize our grants to ensure all our neighbors have equitable access to food, especially as we all continue to recover from the pandemic.
