The Discovery Museums in Acton had a Vision

With attendance at The Discovery Museums growing faster than their facility could accommodate, they wanted to utilize the 4.5 acres of museum property to create an outdoor playroom for families to help deepen their connection with nature.

They turned to the Foundation for MetroWest, asking for a $5,000 grant to develop a concept paper that would help them secure funding for this vision, which they called Nature’s Corridor.

Many small local organizations, such as The Discovery Museums, have very few places to turn for this unique type of funding request. Seeing the potential in this project and the impact it could have on MetroWest families, the Foundation awarded the grant.

Fast forward one year later. The Discovery Museums spent the last year leveraging their $5,000 grant and were recently awarded a total of $452,213 in grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in support of Nature’s Corridor.
